Comparison Websites

As we continue to explore more ways to build an online business, lets look at how you can use comparison related words to find a niche for your online business idea.

This uses some of the logic from Business Idea #55 – Ideas Websites to help us find an interesting niche to build a website and internet marketing income around.

Only this time instead of using the word “ideas” in our keyword research, we are going to use comparison words such as “best” and “popular”.

So let’s see what interesting information people are searching for when they use the word “best” in their searches:

And since this is a family friendly site, I also had to remove some more adult related searches too.

Now looking at this list we can see some areas of possibility that might make good websites.

For instance, there are a lot of astrological relationship searches. If you are interested in astrology, perhaps you would enjoy building a website around astrological compatibility and dating.

There are also lots of cooking related searches such as best sloppy joe recipe, best meatloaf recipes, best turkey stuffing recipe.

It also looks like people are looking for ways to save “I love you”, or “I care” with lots of searches for poems.

Then there are searches for best financial information, software, musical electronics, and other areas of interest that could generate more ideas for niches.

Plus the free Wordtracker Keyword Research Tool I used only returns the first 100 searches for free, so there are lots more searches that would be over 100 searches a day.

If we used the Site Build It (SBI) Brainstorm-It keyword tool we would have turned up 800 searches with all the keyword supply and demand numbers we needed to see if we could identify a possible niche.

Now you can carry the comparison theme right into the website itself.

Perhaps you build a website that compares the best digital cameras along with recommendations, photography tips and affiliate links to shopping sites that carry your recommended cameras.

Or you build a site that uses the search term "best schools in California" to compare colleges and universities in that state.

Of course you would have to decide if some of the potential niches you have found were something you were interested in and had enough passion to build a website around, and also if there was enough potential for making money with the niche too.

But this idea of using a generic search term to generate ideas is a great way to research possible niches.

Now let’s try another search along the same genre and use the term “popular” to see what we get:

Popular toys are another niche that looks like it might have potential, and there are lots of requests for drink recipes for entertaining.

Popular fish names, although it has some demand would probably not be a niche that would make a lot of money for you though.

So I hope you can see the potential of using different groups of words to do some research for possible niches if you are interested in building a website and online business.
