Business Idea
Professional Eyebrow Shaping

This business idea is for you if you have some skill shaping eyebrows, both yours and other women’s.

Women tend to put a lot of work into their eyes with makeup, accessories, and eyebrow plucking, and shaping the brows is not easy work, especially when you are doing it yourself.

Many women don’t feel like they have the expertise to do a good job; horror stories do abound, and many woman have a very real fear that they might over pluck.

You could start this business idea by offering to shape women's eyebrows, and even coming to their home or office to accomplish it for them.

This should be quite appealing to most women that want perfect brows.

A woman's eyebrows are very important to the overall beauty of her face. If shaped right they will make her more feminine and beautiful.

If her eyebrows are shaped wrong, they can make her look un-kept, tired, or just odd.

Most women know this but few know how to pluck their own eyebrows properly.

Do you feel you have some skill in this area?

Then you should enjoy this great video from Videopedia on How to Shape Your Eyebrows.

This business idea would be better suited for a woman; because women are more apt to be knowledgeable about eyebrow shaping, and many women wouldn’t feel as comfortable with a man providing this service.

You could set a certain fee for the actual shaping such as $40.00 per session and you could also advise on brow makeup, brushes and maintenance as part of your service, or for an added fee.

Since this is a personal care service, don’t overlook offering this service to men too.

Many men can also improve their looks by shaping their brows, and you could offer the service to couples too if you were providing in home service.

You could even offer a discount on the man’s shaping, but just be careful because many men’s brows are quite unruly and this could be a lot more work than shaping a woman’s eyebrows.

You want to be sure you are making money!

You can also offer your services to groups, such as at parties.

Offer to do the hosts brows free if they invite at least five more guests that will pay for having their brows shaped at the party.

Make sure that you keep up-to-date with your services.

Bring pictures of different brow shapes for people to choose from, or so you can show you examples of what kind of eyebrow shape would be most flattering for each woman.

Provide some education on daily brow grooming and maintenance, and consider opportunities to sell high quality brow powder and brushes.

A fun thing to do would be to bring large pictures of brows of famous people and see if they can guess whom they belong too.

If this is too hard, you could include the eyes of these famous people too.

Don't forget to include famous cartoon characters and children's TV show and movie characters too, for a good laugh.

This would be a fun game for your host to play with their party guests, while you are shaping the brows of one of the guests.

This is a one of those small business ideas that offers a lot of flexibility, and its a business idea with very little start up cost, mostly you'll need quality implements and good transportation.

Now it's imperative that you make sure that you genuinely know what you are doing.

There probably is very little education in this area that you couldn’t find online, in books and through research and practice.

And I've included a couple of recommended books at Amazon on this page to help you get started.

This could prove to be a great part-time or full-time business idea, you can decide how much you business you want to do and when.

Make sure to get your clients on regularly scheduled bookings. Don’t leave one session without booking their next if possible.

And make sure you when you book your appointments that you give yourself plenty of time to get from one customer to the next.

You never want to arrive late to your next appointment; it doesn’t reflect well on you or your business.

It’s always a good idea to call all of your appointments a day ahead of time too, to confirm your appointments with them.

This will serve as a timely reminder, and it may save you a trip to someone's home who may have forgotten her appointment with you - a real irritation.

You may want to charge a traveling fee of about $10 for missed appointments when this happens, just make sure that you have told your clients about it when you first take them on as a regular customer.

You can get this business idea rolling by starting with friends and family and building some word of mouth.

Visit local salons in your area and see if they have an eyebrow specialist there and if not, offer your services and work out a fee arrangement with the salon owner.

Or they may even be open to giving you referral business for a small commission.

Make sure you have business cards and professional looking flyers and leave them wherever you think appropriate.

Offer your services for free to fashion shows or other similar events to get your business some exposure.

And be sure to find a way to target the bridal market, visit bridal shops and ask if you can leave your flyers.

Brides want to do everything they can to look beautiful on their special day.

This could be a great idea as part of a bridal shower or bridesmaid’s party. The bride would get her eyebrows shaped for free and all the bridesmaids would pay to get theirs done too.
