Business Idea
Teach Card Games

Card games are a great pastime and so much fun. However, many people do not know how to play different card games and would like to learn.

So if you know how to play them well, games such as poker, bridge, canasta, cribbage, gin, and so on, this business idea might be perfect for you.

This business idea has a great social aspect to it also.

Since more people are staying home and spending time either by themselves, with family, and/or with friends, playing card games is a favorite past time.

Even though it is an old-fashioned way to spend time, it is still a lot of fun.

Just think, you would be preserving what is starting to become a lost art. I remember playing cribbage with my grandmother, but very few people know how to play it today.

Many people do not know how to play different card games and would like to learn. Reading directions on how to play a card game is very confusing and difficult.

It is so much easier to learn with someone else that knows the game and can teach you as you play.

It can be a lot of fun also when others are learning at the same time with you.

By teaching games such as poker, bridge, canasta, cribbage, gin, pinochle, and so on, it can help you make money!

You can do this by holding workshops to teach people how to play each type of game. You can stick to teaching one game, or hold different workshops at different times, for the different games.

What ever you decide, playing the game is the best way to learn it.

You can also expand this business idea by holding tournaments and game nights once you get enough students enjoying playing card games.

You could even start and manage leagues, charging a membership fee and you would be the league coach and referee.

You will need to find a place to hold these classes, it shouldn't take very much room, but you will need to have a table or two, depending on how many students you have.

A good rule of thumb is four students per table. This means that the tables you use won't have to be very large either.

You can also make this a home business idea if you have a large and comfortable enough space in your home to teach the classes there.

When it comes to making a profit, you should be able to charge each person $10 - $20 for each class with around ten to twelve students per class.

Plan on one class for each game you want to teach. And each class will probably take about 2 or 3 hours each.

This should be a good amount of time; your students will need to be able to remember each game by playing it several times and learning how to keep the score.

Make sure that they go home with printed directions of how to play each game they learn.

You can find some good information about card games, rules, etc., to help you put together your print outs at Pagat.com. When it comes to looking for a place to hold your classes you have many options; your local library may have an extra room for classes, check with your local coffee houses during slow hours, your local community center, and even schools that hold evening classes.

The start up costs for this business idea are pretty minimal.

You will need to invest in playing cards, but that doesn't cost very much. If you are a careful shopper, you can find them in discount chain stores, for as little as $2 a deck.

Even some toy stores and dollar stores sell used casino cards for as little as $1 per deck.

If you keep as many as ten decks of cards with you for your classes, you should be well equipped for your classes.

When it comes to advertising, advertise your classes in local newspapers.

And print up flyers and post them around town wherever you can.

Tell your friends that you are interested in teaching these classes; they may well know others that might be interested in learning certain card games.

Then there are your local community centers that often offer adult classes in various hobbies and skills which are of interest to their local citizens.

They are usually very happy to find an instructor for many different skills and hobbies that the community would like to take classes to learn.

You could also expand this business idea by finding a supplier of quality and unusual card decks, cribbage boards, etc., and reselling them to your students for a profit.

And if you are really a great instructor, you might even be able to use your skills to get yourself Free Luxury Cruises!
