Your Own eBay Store

Make Money Selling Your Old Stuff with Your Own E-Bay Store

Are you looking for a way to earn extra money at home? Do you have all kinds of junk cluttering up your home? You can parlay that junk into your own business, and the only time you’ll have to leave your home is to go to the post office to send off the items you have sold.

eBay Store Having your own E-bay store is a great business opportunity for stay-at-home moms who want to bring some additional income to the household without having to leave their children.

Millions of people have reaped the benefits of selling on E-bay. Many begin just by listing a couple of items, and when things start selling, they make the move to running their own E-bay store. This can turn into a lucrative home business, especially if you are selling your own things, because you don’t have any expenses for inventory.

Because it is in the home, there is very little overhead involved, and if you have registered for taxes, you can even claim part of your rent and utilities as business expenses.

Setting Up An E-Bay Store

The first thing you will need to do, if you haven’t already, is open an E-bay account. Good feedback is necessary if you want to sell on E-bay, so you should purchase a few items yourself to build a feedback profile. Once you have a good rating, you can begin making money.

Okay, you have a good feedback rating and have decided what you want to sell. What’s next? You have to set up your store. You can open a basic store for as little as $15.95/month, with online support available, and there are tutorials to walk you through the set-up process. You will probably find that in just a few short months, you will need to upgrade your package in order to support the amount of customers and sales you are getting.

So…what should you sell in an E-bay store? The simple answer is anything you want! If your children are grown and you still have some of their old toys, this is a great place to start. Toys are popular collectibles, and there are all kinds of people looking to re-own the toys they had as children. You’d be surprised how much a 20-year-old toy can sell for in an online auction.

Maybe you do some type of craft as a hobby, such as making jewelry or knitting sweaters. People will pay top dollar for quality, hand-crafted items, so you may want to consider placing the items you make up for auction on E-bay. Or you could decide on a set price, and offer the option to “buy it now” for that price. Depending on what you are selling, you may want to offer both the buy it now and auction options.

When your E-bay store is all set up and you have chosen your items to sell, just take some pictures of the items, write up some descriptions (don’t forget a shipping and return policy), and start selling your stuff.
