Continuing on with ideas 4 – 6 of how to make money with a website, we are going to learn about some more ways to make money with internet marketing by building a successful online business.
4. Services and Consulting Fees. If you provide any type of service that you can do long distance, you can build a website to earn income from your skills.
Services such as consulting, therapy, customer repair or crafts work (having the item mailed to you for the service), etc., are all good candidates to use a website to generate clients and earn income with.
The best way to do this is to again build your valuable piece of internet real estate - your website.
The provides lots of quality information and articles about your area of expertise, or perhaps a showcase of your portfolio if you have a custom crafting or repair service.
You would also have an outline of your fees and the services you provide on your website, along with some great “get to know me” information so people can make a connection with you through your website, and start warming up to the idea of hiring you for their needed service.
5. Affiliate Income. Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money on the internet.
And it’s the one besides Adsense that most people wondering how to make money with a website want to learn more about.
Simply put an affiliate is someone who promotes a company or person’s goods or information, and receives a commission when someone buys the product through the affiliate’s promotional links.
These links can be text links, banner links, even clickable pictures next to a description of the item.
And it truly is one of the easiest and most hassle free ways to make money with a website.
And more and more companies are offering affiliate programs these days.
It’s a win-win situation for both them and the affiliate, and there are many large affiliate program providers such as
Commission Junction
and
Clickbank
to name just two.
Plus many companies are managing their own affiliate programs now instead of using a large affiliate company, so whatever niche you decide to build your online business around, you should be able to find some affiliate programs that will help you to make money with your website.
You don’t have any shipping or customer service to worry about, you simply promote the product directly or indirectly on your website.
But you have to know how to do this right.
Putting up a junky website and then putting affiliate links and banners all over it will not work, even though so many people are conned into doing this through get rich quick schemes and other bad website building advice.
The secret to success with affiliate marketing is cultivating a relationship with your website visitor by providing quality info.
It's important to gain trust and build credibility before recommending products from your affiliate partners.

6. Membership Fees. Membership sites provide a great way to earn recurring income, you earn monthly (or whatever fee structure you choose) membership fees by providing valuable content or other services for your members only.
Some examples of membership sites are of course dating sites, but there are so many possible niches that can be targeted for a membership website.
Perhaps you have some specialized musical knowledge, you may create a website for members and provide access to your collection of one of a kind music compositions.
Another example would be one of my recommended resources for selling on eBay, the What Do I Sell membership site.

These are just a few examples of membership sites that I can think of, but there are many more.
Now with a membership site, the bar is raised even higher in terms of quality of content.
If you are going to charge a membership fee for access to your information or service, it must be worth paying for.
